Sure. By Devotion here I mean a very broad category that might include any number of acts which involve the individual surrendering a part of their own individuality to a deity or higher power, or on a more mundane level, to a group, sect, or cause. Basically this can range from unwavering devotion to a monotheistic god, all the way down to taking vows/precepts required by a fraternal or religious organization. Accepting initiation into a group often requires commitment to some duty or set of duties and/or a commitment to a code of conduct which requires some degree of austerity, sacrifice, or restraint on the part of the initiate.
