Yes to all of those things. I just recently finished the tedious process of deleting, one at a time, every single post, comment, photo, and reaction I have ever put onto FB. I signed up for Wire messaging service, so I could still use a chatbox with my siblings. That was the only feature of FB I was really attached to.
Reading the posts of my friends was painfully lowering my opinion of them. I realized that my husband will be finishing school and entering the job market in about a year, and that even though I kept my own page private, comments I made on other pages could potentially endanger his employment prospects. And I'm fairly compulsive about checking the thing. I don't like the effect it has on me. Effectively, I have a content-free account now. I still need to collect updated contact information from a couple of people before I delete it.
It's been about a month since the Great Deleting, and I've only tripped up once commenting on something-- and immediately deleted it. I can feel its influence slipping. I'm looking forward to killing the account.
